Welcome to Nenthead Mines Heritage Centre!

From here you can find out more about Nenthead Mines, a museum dedicated to both showing and telling the 'story' of the mineral mining past of the North Pennines. Prepare to launch on a voyage of discovery at Nenthead Mines, learning more about the people, places, tools, lifestyle, and legacy of the mining industry that at one time completely dominated the landscape of the North Pennines!

Opening Times

Nenthead Mines Heritage Centre is open daily from the 22nd May to the 20th June 2010 and from 17th July to 5th September 2010 inclusive. The site opens at 11:00am and closes at 5:00pm.

We are open every day of the week, all year round, for pre-booked groups. A programme of special events is planned throughout the year - please check our events page or contact us for further details.

Admission Charges

Adults - £7
Children - £3
Family (up to 2 adults and 3 children) - £17.50
Under 4 - free
Concessions - £6

Concessions are available for the following categories:
Retired people over 60
Groups of 10 people or more - booked in advance

Minimum height restrictions apply for the mine visits. The mine is unsuitable for wheelchair access.
